Daffodil Days begin Wed Oct 4
Wow – Thanks to the amazing generosity and participation of our community, we are happy to report that we have easily reached our goal of 1000 bulbs. It’s not too late to donate, though. We’ll accept donations for the next week and a half, so please drop your donation off at 28 Sandy Coast (Pat Schindler) or 113 Sandy Coast (Maxine Bohaker). We will see that every single donated bulb is planted and remember that many of our neighbours are joining Pat and David in donating a dime to the food bank for every bulb received.
Diggers – We are looking for a few able bodied volunteers who don’t mind doing an hour or so of shoveling, just to prep some of the ground for planting. We don’t have to dig fancy beds, but we do have to break up the ground for the planters. We’ll be meeting at 10:00am as follows –
Wednesday Oct 4 at the River Road trailhead near Therese Edwards’ house
Friday Oct 6 at the Beachway trailhead across from Janice Grant’s house
Saturday Oct 7 at the Stonebridge Blvd trailhead behind the pool
Please bring a shovel or digging fork, gloves and whatever else you might think will come in handy
Planters – Everyone is welcome to come out and plant bulbs at 10:00am the week following Thanksgiving. You’ll need a garden trowel and gloves, and maybe your kneeling pad!
Wednesday Oct 11 at the River Road trailhead
Thursday Oct 12 at the Beachway trailhead
Saturday Oct 14 at the Stonebridge Blvd trailhead
The areas for planting were selected by the SHOA grounds committee to ensure that everyone in Stonebridge gets some plants close to their house. If you have a “special” area in mind or would like to plant additional bulbs on your property we heartily encourage you to do so. We are looking to a day in the future when our entire town will come alive with thousands and thousands of daffodils every spring, and it’s all going to start right here in Stonebridge. How fabulous is that??
See you all next week!
Yours in community,
The Schindlers (David, Pat and Maxi..)
