Stonebridge Daffodil Days 2018 is coming!

We are aiming to plant 10,000 daffodils in beautiful Stonebridge.

Here’s how we can all be a part of it..

Stonebridge Daffodil Days began last year with a dream. We set out want to beautify our neighbourhood with 1000 naturalized daffodil bulbs a year for the next 10 years.  We are already getting a reputation as a “destination community”. Just imagine what wave after wave of thousands of incredible blooms throughout our common areas for a few weeks each spring would do for our reputation. (Not to mention our property values). Our residents came through in Spades with over 1500 bulbs which bloomed magnificently for Mothers’ Day Weekend in May.

This year, we are shooting for an additional 2000 bulbs in donations from our residents.

Beginning in September, we’ll be accepting donations of bulbs for 2018. For every 10 bulbs received, Pat and David Schindler will donate a dollar to the Wasaga Food Bank.

Here’s a short Q & A:

Why daffodils? – Daffodils are the perfect bulb for naturalizing. They do not require beds, care or cultivation. They grow right up through the turf and finish blooming before the long grass obscures them. They are not attractive to deer, squirrels or other pests.

Where can I get bulbs for donation? – Generic bulbs (no need to buy expensive, fancy ones) will be available mid September in bags in bulk from garden centers, catalogs and charities for as little as $.50 each. In 2017, Canadian Tire had bags of 40 bulbs for $19.99, so keep your eyes open. Maxine Bohaker is also taking orders to support the Friends of the Library, so for just a few cents more you can buy bulbs AND help out TWO worthy causes. Maxine currently has catalogs and order forms. Just drop in and see her at 113 Sandy Coast and she’ll fix you up!

Where can I drop off my bulbs? –

Pat Schindler – 28 Sandy Coast (after Sept. 16)

Irene Beazley – 34 Sandy Coast

Gayle Parks – 41 Covington Blue

Sharon Attisano – 63 Sandy Coast

Janice Grant – 20 Beachway

Maxine Bohaker – 113 Sandy Coast

Mary Lou Hardy – 24 Savannah

Lynda Hollowell – 89 Sandy Coast

Can I be a volunteer planter or help in some other way? – Absolutely. We’ll be holding a call out for volunteers in early October and we’ll be inviting everyone to the clubhouse to get some shovels in the ground!

Yours in community,

The Schindlers (David and Pat..)
